Job Title: Quality Inspector

Summary

Inspects materials received, first piece, work in process and finished product such as material, finish, and dimensions to ensure conformance with blueprint or engineering specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties responsibilities and activities may

  • Perform dimensional, visual, and mechanical inspections using standard documentation and procedures.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools to assist inspection.
  • Provide acceptance or rejection for compliance to established standards and processes.
  • Maintains record of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specifications and facilitates the acceptance of parts.
  • Reports quality problems or findings to the quality manager.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to staff, management and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
