Summary of Position
The Laser and Turret Punch Press Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC-controlled laser and turret punch press machines. This includes installing tooling, loading materials, and making machine adjustments to produce small to large parts of varying complexity, all within specified tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Operate CNC equipment, including but not limited to, AMADA turrets, Trumpf laser / turret combo, and Mitsubishi brand lasers.
- Perform full machine setup: load tooling, make adjustments, and input machine control changes as needed based on blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders
- Inspect parts to ensure they meet all tolerance and quality specifications
- Ability to load programs and tooling, including special form tools.
Production Support
- Report any issues with quality, processes, equipment, or materials to the Supervisor or Quality Control Specialist
- Operate machinery independently with minimal supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with other departments to support workflow and productivity
Continuous Improvement & Inventory
- Assist in achieving department goals related to production efficiency and product quality
- Participate in monthly inventory counts to support inventory accuracy
- Proactively seek ways to improve productivity and reduce costs
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings
- Basic math skills with the ability to solve manufacturing-related problems
- Strong time management skills; able to prioritize and multitask
- Attention to detail and organizational skills essential for maintaining quality standards
- Physical ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for a minimum of 8 hours
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required); college coursework or degree preferred
- Authorized to work in the United States (required)
- Experience with the following equipment is a plus:
- AMADA Vipros
- AMADA EMK
- AMADA AE
- Turret Punch Presses
- Mitsubishi Laser
- Trumpf Laser / Turret Combo machines
- Knowledge of automation for load and unload of raw sheets
- Experience welcomed but not required; we are willing to train motivated individuals
